The Love For Hand-Me-Downs

Untitled #17
Having twins can get quite expensive with clothing, toys, gear and furniture.  Lucky for us we have many friends that gave us handy- me- downs.  Babies tend to grow out of clothing really fast, so it was great to receive so many gently used items. We received everything from swings, car seats, bouncy seats and a lot of clothing. I am so grateful, in return I try to keep on giving.  I always keep an empty diaper box in the closet and place the smaller items in to hand down to the next baby.

With the twins I am constantly attempting to keep them entertained, so it is nice to have options with chairs, toys and exersaucers.  Not only do I have items at home but at their day care as well.  It can definitely add up if I were to purchase everything new.  I have found quite a few stores in town that buy and sell gently used items which helps keep the cost down.

I have snagged quite a few pieces from these local stores and absolutely love the reasonable prices:

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch

It's almost October, one of my favorite months of the year!  Okay so maybe we are just beginning September, but I'm excited to over indulge in all things pumpkin, I cant wait for October to get here. I can never get enough of  pumpkin lattes, breads and even pumpkin facial masks. (PCA line has my favorite pumpkin mask, it smells great and it balances the skin after the hot, dry summer)
My favorite time in October is dressing up for Halloween.  I definitely love to see how creative people become in designing costumes.  Last year I was on bed rest pregnant with the twins, I think that was the first year I missed out.  I'm so excited to dress the twins up this year in their first Halloween costume, but seriously there are too many cute costumes to choose from.  Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Ghost Leotard
  2. Boo Ya Onsie
  3. Sparkle Rompers
  4. Dalmation Romper

8 Month Milestones

(Moccasins- Rad Moccs

(Shirt-Gap)

Harper and Aiden have reached 8 months old and are both moving quickly around the house.  This milestone has been very exciting to see the different strengths each child has.  Harper started out shifting her weight back and forth on her knees, until she figured how to move forward and crawl.  Aiden went from rolling his body from one side of the room to the other to currently an army crawl.  It is so fun watching the two explore but this definitely means its time to child proof the house.

When child proofing the house there are services (Here) that can come to your home or you can DIY.  Put away all cleaning products, cosmetics and any other chemicals; lock cabinets; install gates if necessary and cover all electric outlets.  It is also very important to clear out all small objects that are lying around- everything goes into their mouth.

My favorite time is watching the twins chase our pomeranian- Bailie, she is still quicker than them and has escaped the tail pulling so far.  Bailie will quickly go in for a kiss, run away and kiss the other baby.  It is so cute to watch, but soon they will be as fast as her.

Cooks In The Kitchen

Introducing Solid Foods

My babies are growing up way too fast and we are already onto feeding solid foods.  I have to be honest the first few months of this year are a blur and I still can't believe they are almost 7 months.

You can start introducing solid food anytime between 4-6 months.  I started introducing solids when they reached 5 months to make sure the twins could hold their head up steady in an upright position.  I love making their food because I know exactly what they are eating, I use all fresh organic fruits & vegetables.  It has been fun watching the silly faces they make when they taste a new recipe of mine.

RECAP OF LA LA LAND VIA CAMERA ROLL

It's been a few weeks since we got back from our 4th of July vacation in Southern California and today I am sharing some of my favorite moments (camera overload).  It has taken awhile to get back into my routine and we are definitely bummed to be back in the Arizona heat.  I'm ready to escape the 100 degree weather again.
Since the twins were born we didn't know what to expect and thought it would slow us down a bit in the traveling department.  We have taken a couple of road trips and airplane rides, so far traveling with the twins has been pretty easy.  Don't get me wrong it does take planning and I feel like we pack up our whole house, but they have been wonderful traveling babies.  We managed to squeeze us all in the car after packing our bags, the puj tub, double stroller and twin bassinet pack n play. (It may be time to get Mama a SUV)  To be honest they even surprised me- they slept better on vacation than they have in the past six months.
Whether we drive or fly, I try to plan the trips around nap time or bed time, it really seems to help. This road trip we left at night right after their last bottle so they slept the entire way to California.

Here is our Southern California recap...

Our daily stroll to the beach.
The weather was so great we took full advantage to be outside daily.
We actually hit up a few beach cities while we were in town, since they are so close to each other- Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan.

Last week we were in Southern California and on one of our daily strolls we ran into a farmers market. It was such a treat to find, Its not often I see a great farmers markets now that I live in the Arizona Desert. I love supporting the local vendors and the best part about it we get to take home such amazing fresh fruits and vegetables.
